The University of Miami/UHealth has an exciting opportunity for a Per Diem Research Assistant 3 in the Public Health Sciences Department. The Research Assistant 3 (A) explores innovations to research and strives to improve implementation and family outcomes. The Research Assistant 3 (A) ensures compliance with University policies, rules, and regulations to meet federal, state, and local standards pertaining to safety and ethics. Core job functions include planning and implementing research experiments according to research protocols to assure high-quality scientific results in support of applicable project goals; participating in assessing the feasibility of implementing innovations; assessing data trends and developing reports and presentations; supporting the initiation of new research by reviewing and synthesizing literature; overseeing inventory of supplies and equipment and placing orders in a timely fashion; assisting in the preparation of scientific papers, reports, and manuscripts; adhering to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguarding University assets. Department specific functions include providing manual-guided counseling (Recovery Guide counseling) to participants assigned to ICC-MOUD; using active learning approaches to engage participants in learning about opioid use disorder, MOUD with buprenorphine, and the role of MOUD in treatment and recovery; engaging participants in behavioral change, making use of tools from the Recovery Guide toolkit to help participants develop short-term, achievable, critical goals and objectives and develop participant-specific Recovery Plan Agreements; tracking participant progress and revising plans as needed; documenting recovery guide sessions and other related research documents; following up on visits, reminding participants about appointments, and scheduling assessments; identifying individual needs and steps to support sustained recovery; participating in all required trainings and meetings; ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and protocol adherence; and other duties as assigned. Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, minimum 3 years of relevant experience, skill in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data, ability to recognize, analyze, and solve problems, and ability to exercise sound judgment. Department specific qualifications include experience with opioid use disorder (preferably lived experience), knowledge of Black/African American populations and local communities, exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, and maintaining research compliance.
