Currently the Laboratory Certification Section of the Drinking Water Branch seeks a candidate that haslaboratory experience, good communication skills, and is an analytical thinker with an attention to detail.The Environmental Control Supervisor of this section will work across organizational lines, with the publicand with the regulated community providing technical, scientific assistance for the Wastewater and DrinkingWater Laboratory Certification Programs.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Serve as team leader responsible for the implementation of the Drinking Water and Wastewater Laboratory Certification Programs
Establish procedures and train staff on the performance of environmental laboratory audits in support of the Clean Water Act and Safe Drinking Water Act.
Perform audits, prepares and reviews audit reports of drinking water and wastewater laboratories.
Maintain written procedures for compliance and certification determinations.
Acquire and maintain EPA qualifications for a Laboratory Certification Officer for Chemistry (Inorganic and Organic) and Microbiology. Special consideration will be given to applicants that maintain these qualifications.
This position does require some travel and overtime.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree in a natural or physical science.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Five years of experience in natural resources, environmental control, mining reclamation, mining inspection or regulation of mining activities, energy conservation, energy development, energy management, blasting activities, or oil and gas well inspection.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Graduate study in a natural, biological, or physical science will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Experience in natural resources, environmental control, mineral extraction, mining reclamation, mining or mining inspection or experience dealing with the regulation of mining activities (such as mine permit preparation and review or sediment pond and hollow fill design), energy conservation, energy development, energy management, blasting activities, or oil and gas well inspection will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Probationary Period
