Temporary Full Charge Bookkeeper (Full-Time)

Location: Walnut Creek, CA (On-site preferred)

Eco Performance Builders is a leading home performance and electrification contractor based in Walnut Creek, CA. We’re looking for a temporary, full-time, Full Charge Bookkeeper to cover for our current bookkeeper who is out on medical leave. The position is expected to last several months, with the possibility of becoming permanent depending on the circumstances.

About the Role

You’ll be responsible for managing all day-to-day accounting functions and supporting company operations. Our systems include  Paychex Flex with digital timecards , QuickBooks, and project-based job costing. This role also involves managing  insurance renewals, certifications, and compliance documentation .

Key Responsibilities

• Handle A/P, A/R, and all general ledger entries


• Reconcile bank and credit card accounts


• Process payroll through Paychex, including timecard approvals


• Track job costs and allocate expenses accurately to projects


• Renew business and liability insurance policies and manage related paperwork


• Maintain updated W-9s, contractor COIs, and compliance documentation


• File sales tax and ensure regulatory compliance


• Generate financial reports for leadership


• Coordinate with our CPA as needed

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years experience as a full charge bookkeeper


• Advanced QuickBooks experience (Desktop and/or Online)


• Familiarity with Paychex Flex and digital timecard systems


• Experience in construction or project-based accounting highly preferred


• Strong understanding of job costing and expense allocation


• Experience with business insurance renewals and compliance tasks


• Highly organized and detail-oriented


• Strong communication skills and ability to work independently

Compensation & Schedule

• Full-time (40 hours/week), temporary


• On-site preferred at our Walnut Creek office (some hybrid flexibility may be possible)


• Pay range: $35–$45/hour depending on experience
