The Center for Disability Services is looking for dedicated and dynamic Teaching Assistants to join our Summer School Programs and help us continue our 80-year legacy of providing hope and innovation to those in need.

 

About Us: For over 80 years, The Center for Disability Services has been one of Upstate New York’s largest and most trusted providers of programs and services for individuals with disabilities. Many of our cutting-edge programs and essential services are unique to our organization, making us a cornerstone in the community.

 

Position Overview: This is a temporary, seasonal opportunity where you’ll play a pivotal role in enhancing the summer experience for our students. Our Summer School Programs run from July 7th through August 15th, with orientation days on July 1st and 2nd. You’ll work Monday through Friday, from 8 AM to 3 PM, ensuring that students are supported, engaged, and empowered throughout their learning experience.

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Support Teachers & Students: Assist in activities tailored to students’ Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), providing hands-on support in the classroom.
  • Create Learning Opportunities: Help prepare classroom materials and offer direct instruction to students.
  • Ensure a Safe Environment: Provide custodial care of students and maintain a clean, organized classroom environment.
  • Make a Difference: Be a part of a caring team that fosters growth and development for students with unique needs.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required; college credits preferred.
  • Age Requirement: Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
  • Positive Attitude: A passion for working with children and a willingness to contribute to a nurturing, supportive environment.

Compensation:

  • Pay Range: $18.84 to $22.16 per hour, based on experience.
