Search Consultant, Accounting and Finance

Director, Tax Accounting – Global Biopharma | Chicago, IL | Hybrid

As Director of Tax Accounting, you’ll lead the global income tax provision process, overseeing all aspects of ASC 740 reporting and partnering cross-functionally to ensure compliance, mitigate risk, and drive innovation in tax operations.

What You’ll Do:

• Lead quarterly and annual global income tax accounting under ASC 740, including current/deferred taxes, effective tax rate, and uncertain tax positions.
• Manage SOX compliance processes, including preparation and review of documentation.
• Support independent audits and oversee external advisors on income tax accounting matters.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams (Accounting, FP&A, Treasury) and global Tax groups (International, Transfer Pricing, Tax Counsel).
• Provide tax accounting guidance for M&A, integration, and operational planning initiatives.
• Research and analyze complex tax issues and law changes, communicating accounting implications to senior leadership.
• Spearhead process improvement and technology initiatives, overseeing end-to-end implementation.
• Deliver regular updates and insights to executive leadership, auditors, and key stakeholders on global tax reporting.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing Tax Accounting team.

What You Bring:

• CPA and a Master’s in Accounting or Tax required.
• 12–15+ years of tax experience in a Fortune 100 or Big 4 environment, with deep expertise in U.S. domestic tax and ASC 740.
• Proven ability to manage complex tax issues and provide strategic recommendations to senior leadership.
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with a collaborative mindset.
