- Hybrid: 3 days in office and 2 remote
- Travel: None
- Work Hours: Vary based on projects. Standard office hours are 9 AM 5 PM.
- Challenges: New Role. Must be Shopify expert. Client will be switching to Shopify soon.

About the Role
Were looking for a Shopify Platform Developer to design, build, and scale modern eCommerce solutions on Shopify Plus. Youll work at the intersection of commerce, data, and automation building high performance storefronts, custom Shopify Functions, and backend integrations with marketing, fulfillment, and data platforms. This role is ideal for an engineer who loves end-to-end problem solving from crafting high-performance storefront experiences to orchestrating complex data flows between Shopify, CDPs, CRMs, and ERPs.
Key Responsibilities
Platform & Architecture
- Design and build scalable Shopify Plus storefronts (Online Store 2.0, Hydrogen/Remix, or headless frameworks).
- Develop and deploy Shopify Functions (discounts, shipping, payments, custom logic).
- Implement and maintain Checkout Extensibility and App Bridge integrations.
- Architect private apps, middleware, and webhook/event systems that integrate with external systems (ERP, OMS, CDP, CRM, ESP).
- Own the Shopify Admin and Storefront GraphQL API layer ensuring resilience, caching, and performance.
Integration & Data Engineering
- Design data flows between Shopify, CDPs, marketing automation, and analytics platforms.
- Implement event-driven architectures (Pub/Sub, queues, retries, idempotency).
- Maintain consistency and observability across systems with logging and monitoring tools.
Frontend Development
- Build responsive, accessible, and high-performance user interfaces using Liquid, React, or Hydrogen.
- Optimize Core Web Vitals (LCP, INP, CLS) and follow modern SEO & accessibility standards.
Reliability, Security & Compliance
- Ensure PCI and GDPR/CCPA compliance across integrations and data flows.
- Implement best practices for secrets, token management, and error handling.
- Contribute to internal tools, CI/CD, code reviews, and performance testing.
Required Skills & Experience
- 5+ years in web/eCommerce development, including 2+ years focused on Shopify Plus.
- Strong expertise in Shopify Functions, Liquid, GraphQL (Admin/Storefront APIs).
- Advanced knowledge of JavaScript/TypeScript, Node.js, React, and modern build pipelines.
- Experience with Hydrogen/Remix or headless architectures.
- Strong grasp of event-driven systems webhooks, queues, retries, DLQs, and API resilience patterns.
- Experience integrating Shopify with ERP, OMS, CRM, CDP, and other SaaS systems.
- Familiarity with Klaviyo, Recharge, Intelligems, TripleWhale, or similar D2C apps.
- Solid understanding of CI/CD, GitHub Actions, testing, and deployment workflows.
- Strong problem-solving and documentation skills.
