We’re recruiting on behalf of a leading engineering & construction-materials firm for a Senior Drilling Project Manager to oversee geotechnical drilling projects across New York State. This is a hands-on leadership role combining field supervision, crew management, data QA/QC, client communication and project financials — ideal for a safety-focused geologist or drilling professional who enjoys delivering high-quality technical deliverables.

Key responsibilities

• Lead assigned geotechnical drilling projects from mobilization through deliverable preparation, managing budgets, schedules and client communications.
• Coordinate site access, logistics and field schedules with internal teams and facility contacts.
• Conduct site visits to assess conditions, capture GPS/location data, and identify access or utility conflicts.
• Manage underground utility checks and submit notifications (e.g., UDIG NY); enforce safety protocols and lead field safety briefings.
• Supervise field crews and drillers, prepare clear job instructions, inspect drill rigs and perform field logging.
• Review and QA geotechnical data (soil logs, core, infiltration tests), coordinate data processing, and prepare reports and maps.
• Support project administration — invoicing, change orders, and budget updates — and communicate status to management.
• Maintain technical currency with GPS/data tools, soil/core analysis and drilling methods.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Geology (required).
• Proven experience managing drilling projects; geotechnical drilling preferred.
• Ability to travel throughout New York State for project work.
• Strong communication, organizational and planning skills.
• Comfortable with physical field work (lifting, standing, outdoor labor in all seasons).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word/Excel, PDF editors, GPS data and mapping tools (Google Earth).
• Safety-focused, practical problem solver and strong team collaborator.

Compensation & environment

• Salary: $100,000–$140,000 annually (DOE).
• Work mix: office, shop and outdoor field settings; field work occurs year-round in varied weather conditions. Work hours vary by job schedule and location.
