Job Description

We are seeking a talented and adaptable Mechanical Engineering Intern to join our team of advanced mechanical engineers and assist with the research, design, and development of our cutting-edge hypersonic air-breathing propulsion systems. In this role, youll tackle complex engineering challenges that will push you to think critically and apply engineering principles to your daily tasks and responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the mechanical and aerospace engineering team in developing flight vehicle systems, components, and test hardware
  • Participate in the full design-to-manufacture workflow, contributing to concept development, 3D modeling, drawing creation, and design reviews
  • Assist with structural, thermal, and fluid flow analysesusing engineering software tools under the guidance of senior engineers
  • Review and update 3D CAD models and 2D fabrication drawings toensure accuracy, manufacturability, and alignment with engineering standards
  • Apply engineering principles related to structural integrity, thermal performance, material properties, and manufacturability in project work
  • Research and help develop innovative solutions for design, testing, and manufacturing challenges
  • Contribute to IRAD (Independent Research and Development) andcontinuous improvement projects through documentation, testing, and data collection
  • Assist in the design and build of advanced propulsion test stands, including 3D modeling, creation of fluids and structural layouts, and preparation of fabrication drawings and work instructions
  • Participate in feasibility studies tohelp identify and justify equipment or tooling requirements

Qualifications:

  • Pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
  • Minimum of 0-1 years of experience in mechanical engineering
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks, including modeling, assemblies, and drawings
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail
  • Eagerness to work in a fast-paced, collaborative R&D environment
  • Exposure to or interest in rocket propulsion, fluid systems, or high-speed aerodynamics is highly desireable
  • Hands-on experience with fabrication, fluid systems, or high-speed aerodyanmics is highly desireable
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
