Position Overview

We are seeking an accomplished Human Resources Manager/Director to serve as a key strategic partner with management and lead our comprehensive HR operations in our food manufacturing environment. This high-level position requires an experienced professional who can balance strategic workforce planning with operational excellence, fostering exceptional employee relations while driving business results through effective people management.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Partnership & Business Leadership

  • Partner closely with executive leadership and department managers to develop workforce strategies that support business objectives and operational goals
  • Provide strategic HR guidance on organizational design, talent management, and succession planning initiatives
  • Lead workforce analytics and planning to anticipate and address future talent needs
  • Assist in organizational change management efforts and support business transformation initiatives

Manufacturing Industry Leadership

  • Apply extensive knowledge of manufacturing operations, regulatory compliance, and industry best practices
  • Collaborate with Managers & Directors on supporting multiple shifts and production workforce optimization
  • Partner with Operations Leadership on safety, quality, and productivity improvement initiatives, training, and document control.

Comprehensive HR Operations Management

  • Lead full-cycle talent acquisition, including strategic recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and offboarding processes
  • Manage day-to-day employee relations issues while building programs to enhance company culture and employee engagement and retainment
  • Maintain personnel records and HRIS data while implementing system improvements
  • Serve as the primary organizational risk mitigator by creating, implementing, and enforcing compliant employment practices, conducting thorough investigations, and proactively addressing workplace issues
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws while creating risk management strategies
  • Coordinate and administer various training sessions
  • Administer benefits enrollment and answer employee questions while evaluating and improving benefits offerings
  • Support managers with performance reviews while establishing effective performance management frameworks
  • Process leave requests and manage attendance tracking
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Education, Experience & Industry Expertise

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field OR Professional HR certification (SPHR, SHRM-SCP) required
  • Minimum 15 years of progressive HR experience with significant leadership responsibilities
  • Extensive experience in manufacturing environments, preferably in food production or related industrial sectors
  • Proven track record as a strategic partner to leadership teams
  • Bilingual- Spanish capabilities to effectively support diverse workforce populations
  • Excellent conflict resolution, interpersonal, and communication skills with ability to influence and build credibility at all organizational level
  • Superior organizational and project management abilities with proven success managing complex, multi-faceted initiatives
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including executive-level presentation and reporting capabilities
  • Professional maturity with sound business judgment and ability to handle highly confidential information with discretion
  • Strong coaching and mentoring abilities to develop both HR team members and organizational leaders
  • Comprehensive knowledge of employment law, regulatory compliance, and advanced HR practices

Important Details:

  • The anticipated compensation for this position ranges from $95,000 to $130,000 annually. This is the lowest to highest salary that we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, performance, shift, and business or organizational needs. The successful candidate may be eligible for annual discretionary merit compensation award and annual bonus.
  • This is a full-time, onsite Salary position that requires occasional travel to our Chicago location.
