Job Description

Overview Department : BSD CRI - Data Warehouse The Center for Research Informatics (CRI) is an organization within the Biological Sciences Division (BSD) that provides informatics resources and services to BSD faculty. The CRI’s operations encompass applications development, bioinformatics, IT infrastructure and scientific computing, and clinical research data warehousing/business intelligence. The CRI enables research of high scientific merit and advances clinical and translational informatics. The CRI seeks exceptional candidates to leverage state-of-the-art technologies to deliver innovative and exciting solutions for biomedical researchers. Job Summary The job performs activities related to software support and/or development. It provides analysis, design, development, debugging, and modification of computer code for end-user applications, beta releases, web pages, and production support. It troubleshoots problems using existing procedures to find solutions. Responsibilities Gather and analyze healthcare and related data to identify and interpret trends in support of data requests, business cases, and proposed projects. Design, construct, test, and maintain data warehouse functionality including extraction and transformation of data using SSIS. Design, develop, and test business intelligence outputs (including visualization) to provide useful information using R, Python, Tableau, and/or Excel to support research and quality improvement initiatives. Test and validate data to support decision-making processes. Design and perform statistical analyses. Manage information systems and data files, including large and complex files; analyze file structures, create file layouts, and transform raw data into finished products. Monitor timely and accurate completion of select datasets. Participate in strategic initiatives to enhance data management and reporting for research and quality improvement initiatives. Collaborate with a cross-functional team of Data Scientists, Project Managers, and Developers to ensure high-quality data delivery to faculty. Proactively identify issues and opportunities to improve data systems and related policies as part of data governance. Investigate, analyze, and resolve day-to-day technical problems using standard procedures. Work with stakeholders to gather and analyze requirements for developmental programs; receive moderate guidance to design applications meeting University and business requirements. Perform other related work as needed. Minimum Qualifications Education: College or university degree in a related field. Work Experience: 2-5 years of work experience in a related job discipline. Certifications: --- Preferred Qualifications Education: Master’s degree in biostatistics, computer science, or related field OR equivalent job experience in statistical analysis. Understanding of data models (OMOP, PCORnet). Experience with ETL tools. Experience with application development and/or agile teams. Licenses and Certifications: Epic Clarity Data Model certification required within 6 months of employment. Epic Cosmos Super User certification required within 6 months of employment. Preferred Competencies Problem solving and decision-making skills. Knowledge of healthcare data including ICD-9, ICD-10, and CPT. Expertise in SQL and Excel. Proficiency in relational databases with experience designing transformations and mappings, and working with reference tables. Ability to translate technical information to non-technical audiences. Critical thinking and multi-tasking with the ability to manage multiple projects. Time management skills. Proficiency in creating technical specifications, business cases, and other development documentation. Experience investigating data issues and working with cross-functional teams for problem resolution. Energetic about solving complex problems and possessing intellectual curiosity. Salary range: $85,000-$105,000, depending on qualifications. Working Conditions Remote or Hybrid (maximum 2 days/week, dependent upon projects).
