Engineering Technologist, CTO Office of Pursuits

As an Engineering Technologist in the CSG CTO Office of Pursuits, you will lead efforts to make on-device AI real for our customers. This role will be pivotal in turning the on-device AI story into more than just a story, it will hunt for the opportunities that are technically feasible, “sell” customers on giving us their time and insights, and bridge to our engineering team to develop proofs of concept to deliver for stakeholders.

You will:

  • Manage Development of POCs, Co-Innovations, and non-hardware alphas:
    • Source and oversee the creation and development of Proofs of Concept (POCs), co-innovation projects, and alpha non-hardware product
    • Engage the appropriate parts of the CTO office to pair the right technical expertise with this person’s product expertise to define scope, features, timelines, and other associated work required to build products quickly
  • Evaluate and Transition Projects:
    • Assess completed coinnovation projects to determine if they merit further investigation or development work based on the strategic objectives of the office of the CTO
    • Transition successful POCs and co-innovations into Dell Validated Designs or alpha builds
    • Hand off alpha builds to the full product engineering team for further development. Oversee the handoff and subsequent work from arm’s length with the ability and intention to step in as needed
  • Support CTO Office Initiatives:
    • Respond to requests for CTO-level materials, event participation, customer engagements, and other diplomatic considerations by participating or rerouting the ask as appropriate
    • Represent the office of the CTO internally and externally as a subject matter expert on our strategy, concept vehicles, POCs, co-innovations, and alpha projects

Essential Requirements:

  • Strong understanding of product development processes and procedures and the ability to ship things quickly
  • An appetite for reasonable risk and the ability to tinker, experiment, and prototype quickly to test hypotheses and determine feasibility of pursuits
  • Ability to go beyond the core requirement of following latest technology, developments, and trends in personal computing to creatively and quickly apply learnings
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced tech environmen
  • Exception public speaking skills paired with a speedy-to-output ability to design and deliver presentation materials on tight timelines.

Desirable Requirements:

  • Typically requires 10+ years of related experience in a professional role with a Bachelor’s degree; or 8+ years and a Master’s degree; or 6+ years and a PhD; or equivalent experience. Not meeting the years or degree desired requirements will not preclude a candidate
  • Recent coursework or professional development program completion related to applied AI, machine learning, or data science

Compensation

Dell is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The salary range for this position is $230k - $297k.
