Job Summary
Promote safety program strategies for maintaining a safe and healthy work environment and promoting an agency culture of safety and healthy work practices among employees at the Department of Public Safety (DPS). This position is responsible for developing, maintaining, and directing the agency-wide comprehensive workplace safety and health program, identify and implement workplace violence prevention strategies and lead the agency towards a culture of safety, health and wellness, across all facilities, field locations, and with regard to telework. Additionally, the incumbent is responsible to bargaining unit and state policy requirements related to workplace safety and health, including inspections and corrections to workplace environments.
The Department of Public Safety is unable to provide sponsorship for work visas. Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States at the start of employment. DPS does not participate in E-Verify.
Employees may telework up to 50% or more, depending on the position and the needs of the division. Employees who live 50 miles or more from their permanent work location may be allowed to telework more than 50% with approval from the division director.

Physical Requirements
Medium: Requires occasionally moving and transporting 50-pound items and frequently moving and transporting objects such as heavy tools and heavy file boxes. The job may require positioning self to move to a significant degree across rough terrain or may involve maintaining a stationary position for an extended period.
