CERTIFIED SUBSTITUTE TEACHERS - Current, Former or Retired LPS Teachers


2025-2026 School Year

Do not apply for this position if you are NOT a current, former or retired Lincoln Public Schools Teacher.

Certified Substitute Teachers - Current, Former, or Retired Teachers are individuals who have been hired as certified employees (current or former) with Lincoln Public Schools.

This application does not require transcripts or retaking the Gallup survey as part of the application process.

Substitute teachers are those who hold a bachelor degree (or higher) in education

• Requires Nebraska Teaching or State Substitute certificate
• Daily rate of pay for full day is $185.53*
• Daily rate of pay for half day is $92.76* *These are the pay rates for 2024-25. Rates for 2025-26 have not been finalized.
• Applicants who do NOT hold a degree in education, apply for the Certified, Local Substitute Teacher, 2025-2026 application.

IMPORTANT REMINDER: Employees retiring or changing from a benefits eligible position to a substitute only position are subject to NPERS and PPACA reemployment rules and will need to wait 90 or 180 days.
