Exciting opportunity for an Alterations Specialist at our Madison Avenue Flagship Boutique

Your Impact:

As an Alterations Specialist at Akris, you will play a vital role in upholding the brand’s legacy of exceptional craftsmanship and precision tailoring. You will provide expert-level alterations and fittings for our discerning clientele, ensuring each garment reflects the highest standards of fit, construction, and luxury. This position requires refined technical skill, discretion, and a deep appreciation for detail—delivering a personalized, high-touch experience aligned with the Akris brand ethos.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform precise alterations and fittings on women’s luxury garments with exceptional attention to detail and craftsmanship.
  • Apply advanced technical skills across a variety of materials including double-face wool, cashmere, silk, and embroidery.
  • Execute garment fittings with confidence and accuracy, ensuring both comfort and aesthetic alignment with brand standards.
  • Collaborate closely with the sales team to provide tailored recommendations and enhance the overall client experience.
  • Maintain impeccable garment care throughout the alteration process, ensuring cleanliness, organization, and respect for luxury materials.
  • Manage multiple client projects efficiently, balancing timelines with superior quality execution.
  • Stay informed of evolving fashion trends, tailoring methods, and material innovations to continually elevate service delivery.
  • Operate tailoring equipment with proficiency and maintain a well-organized work area.
  • Uphold the Akris commitment to excellence in every client interaction and finished garment.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 8 years experience in luxury women’s tailoring or alterations, with a portfolio demonstrating mastery of fit and finish.
  • Expertise in working with delicate and specialty fabrics including double-face wool, double-face cashmere, silk, and hand embroidery.
  • Proven ability to conduct accurate fittings and independently execute alterations to the highest standard.
  • Experience in high-end retail or boutique settings; previous Madison Avenue or luxury fashion house experience preferred.
  • Polished communication skills and professionalism in working with VIP clients, stylists, and personal assistants.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage priorities under minimal supervision.
  • Discretion and diplomacy when working with high-profile clientele.
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to new techniques, tools, and brand procedures.
  • Flexible availability, including weekends and holidays, to align with boutique operations.
